Let me start off this review by saying that this review is the first I will be doing for Anime Densetsu so bear with me. The game "Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together" is part of a strategy game seies made by Atlus. I will be reviewing the American translated version since I can't understand Japanese. This game is one of the toughest strategy-rpg's I have ever played. It is filled with cool secrets, tough bosses, and rewarding treasures. If you are willing to stick with it, it is a rewarding game that will be a gem in your PSX collection. The story starts of in a land called Valeria. After the death of King Dolgare, Valeria was divided into three ethnic groups wanting the chance to rule. You start out as a young Walstanian, member of the ethnic group that is opressed and discriminated by others, seeking justice for his people. So starts Tactics Ogre. Is it just me, or does almost every strategy-rpg start with a rebellion? Anyway, the game plays just like Final Fantasy Tactics, with you moving ten characters on a field to do battle with the other side. Sounds pretty simple, right? Add the many options available during battle, always being outnumbered in battle, and a pretty good AI, and you have a tough game. Many things affect battle, from your alignment to your zodiac. It will take days to really get the hang of the battle engine. This game also has a unique class system. It starts out basic enough, but at later stages, the classes you can be depends on your alignment. There are a lot of classes possible. Throw in monsters and you have characters up the wazooh. Another cool thing is the path that your story takes. Once in a while, you are given a choice which will affect the storyline. For example, at the end of Chapter 1, you are given a choice of killing the townspeople per your orders or sparing their lives and disobeying your orders. One path leads you to a lawful path while another leads to a neutral/chaotic path. The story branches off farther down the road and it changes the story ever time. I, personally, have only finished the neutral path and am interested in playing through the game using different paths. This game may start out slow and have boring spots, but playing through it will give you a real good feeling, knowing that you accomplished something really hard. Here are my ratings for the game:

Graphics: 6/10
The graphics are passable, but look dated when compared to Final Fantasy Tactics and the upcoming Kartia.

Story: 9.5/10
Excellent Story, though overused in the genre. To do what is just, you may have to do what you don't like. Excellent touch and adds a bit of realism to the story.

Gameplay: 7/10
It is a very good game to play, though the battles are extremely tough. It may be a little tough for beginners.

Music: 8/10
Good game music and excellent score. Added real depth to the game itself.

Overall: 8/10
This is an excellent game, although the learning curve is a little steep. There is also a bit of repetetiveness and you will spend countless hours trying to uncover every little secret within the game.
