Released on July 16, 2002, only shortly after much praised AVG Visual Novel of Real Life in New Sapporo General Hopital "Yuki no Tokeru Koro ni...", Studio e.go! has released their 15th game, featuring 19th-century Western Europe as backdrop setting, a house/town management game known as "Wind of Ebenbourg". The player, Claude MacDonald, a British university student of Economics and Business, suddenly received word from a mysterious lady known as Sophie to return across the English Channel to the European mainland to the city of Ronsard (it is actually a name of a French poet) and govern the city as inheritance from the family.
Upon arrival of the town of Ronsard, now desolate from the previous rule of Claude's uncle, Eric, who now is in exile from the people of Ebenbourg and town/city of Ronsard, the 3-year story begins with the maid of the mansion (Mylene), Claude's childhood friend, and now the new second maid of the mansion (Charlotte). The fate of your life, as well as the fate of Ebenbourg rests in your first three years of rule.
As a bachelor all your life (Although you are still young), what will happen with 2 young and cute maids always beside you day and night, and a beautiful nurse to take care of every matter in the office with you? That is left for the player to explore...maybe you will find yourself more than you expected.
The new winds of change blow again in Ebenbourg... where will the wind take all of us?
***** System *****
The game's interactive parts, other than the Visual Novel component of the story, also includes the management of the household, including sending the 2 maids to work on different parts of the house and town, completing different tasks (political changes, actions), set tax rate, buy new objects for the house and improve its aethestics etc...
The unique and simple interface is very intricately designed and this game should be one of the must-gets for the Studio e.go! section.
Music: 8.5 / 10
Standard e.go! quality. Sung by CANDY and composed by PYON-MO, this game features baroque/classical type music, which is considered "recent", but not "update" music of the story era.
Graphics: 9.5 / 10
Again standard e.go! quality. Impressive way of drawing hair, 3D genearated background, 3D rendered effects (snow etc), and beware OF T3H 3V!L e.go! Chick/bird!
Storyline: 6.5 / 10
Sufficiently emotional (esp. Mylene), but overall shallow. STANDARD e.go! stuff...
Overall: 7.75 / 10
A run of the mill e.go! game, taking like 4 months instead of years to plan, and a good piece to play every once in a while.
