Street Chess is a Chinese chess game produced by Soft World. Soft World is famous for its martial arts, RPG games, but they also produced a huge quantity of other games. For example, Dream of Red Mansion and Rich 4 are quite popular. The game in discussion, Street Chess, is one such unique game.
The main difference of this game from other Chinese chess games is that you do not actually play a full game of chess. What you do is to try to win a pre-setted chess game. In each game, the computer will setup a board with a few pieces left and put you in a checkmate position. However, you have the next move and to beat the game, you'll have to continuously check the computer until it is checkmated. Thus, one mistake in the sequence to checkmate the computer will make you lose.
In this game, you basically go to different places and play Chinese chess. These places include the casino, gym, teashop, flower shop, noodle shop, fire station, hospital, park, temple, etc. You can go to anyone of these places at anytime and each place varies in difficulty. Accordingly, the more difficult places give more money when you win a game.
Collecting money is the key to this game. This is no real goal in this game except to beat all the places, thereby winning, and collecting as much money as possible. Thus, there isn't much incentive. This game is more like a solitaire kind of game where you just want to spent some time because you have nothing better else to do.

Not much gameplay except clicking on the pieces and clicking the place you want to move it to.
Graphic: 7/10
Graphics is actually kind of poor for 16bit color. Then again, there is really no need for super graphics since you basically see a chessboard and the chess pieces most of the time.
Sound/Music: 8/10
You can't really expect fantastic sound/music for a chess game. What I know is that the background music is decent and the speech is kind of cool. This is because the people that talk to you use familiar Taiwanese slangs. I find this pretty additon both interesting and humorous.
Overall: 8/10
This is an interesting game. The idea behind the game is unique and the way its setup also helps you play Chinese chess better. (At least I think it did for me)
